Neville Goddard and The Three Fundamental Principles – Part 3 – Detachment

how_to_feel_it_real_and_detach_detachmentHey Mate,

This is probably the #1 area where people get confused – and then totally train wreck their manifesting.

Don’t try to “DETACH”!

What most people teach about “detaching” will STOP your manifesting DEAD in it’s tracks.

(Maybe THAT common mistake is why you’ve been stuck or “on hold”.)

So let’s dive in with this Neville Goddard quote…

…today and notice how what Neville teaches here is MASSIVELY DIFFERENT than what other people say to do:

“The purpose of practicing detachment is to separate us from our present reactions to life and attach us to our aim in life. This inner separation must be developed by practice.”

“At first we seem to have no power to separate ourselves from undesirable inner states, simply because we have always taken every mood, every reaction, as natural and have become identified with them.”

“When we have no idea that our reactions are only states of consciousness from which it is possible to separate ourselves, we go round and round in the same circle of problems – not seeing them as inner states but as outer situations.”

“We practice detachment, or inner separation, that we may escape from the circle of our habitual reactions to life. That is why we must formulate an aim and constantly notice ourselves in regard to that aim.” – Neville Goddard

  1. Neville says to begin by asking right now: “What do you want?”
  2. And then he teaches you to DETACH from YOUR OLD REACTIONS to the world by….
  3. Assuming your AIM – your wish fulfilled.

POWER POINT: Don’t detach from your desires.  FULLY ASSUME THEM – so you can THINK FROM THEM.

(This is where EVERYONE has this exactly backwards.   They detach from their DREAM.   They go into “if it’s God’s will” or “the universe knows best”.   That’s BULLONEY.

Remember:  “God’s will is your will!”

Neville continues here….

“We must practice separating ourselves from our negative moods and thoughts in the midst of all the troubles and disasters of daily life. No one can be different from what he is now unless he begins to separate himself from his present reactions and to identify himself with his aim. Detachment from negative states and assumption of the wish fulfilled must be practiced in the midst of all the blessings and cursing of life.”  – Neville Goddard

Many people STRUGGLE FOR YEARS, because they don’t GET THIS.

This stuff works fast and easy if you IF  you…

Dear 2020,

I signed up for your free Easy Manifesting Methods course. Twice. And I never did it.

And, it was one of your posts on Facebook that re-ignited my interest in Neville Goddard. But I resisted diving in with you for the better part of a year.

Then something changed – I don’t know what – and I began listening to your podcasts, which led me to buying Manifesting Mastery.

I got MM because I was tired of my life being the way it was. I had followed another teacher, who was spouting Neville and seemed to know his shit. But, after listening to you, I realize it is Bat Shit Crazy he knows. I tried a 90 day discipline with this OTHER guy and had to convince myself I was getting SOME results. But really, not much if anything really happened.

Again, it would be easy to bullshit you through Email. But, I appreciate your honesty, so I’m as honest in these messages as I can be. Week 1 (of Manifesting Mastery) was amazing!

The biggest shift just happened a couple days ago. I’ve been focusing on what to change in my life; primarily money. But a few nights ago I shifted to impacting the world and getting my message out to as many people as I can.

My thoughts now run in the vein of reaching others, and the money has become a side note or side effect.

And the amazing thing is that I’m not forcing myself or convincing myself to think this way, it just happened.

I don’t know what that means. And I don’t know what it will bring. I just know that it is freeing to think this way. Thank you.

Again, if any of this can help others, feel free to use it.

Thank you for the spectacular work,

Quentin – Day 49 in Manifesting Mastery

I wish you could’ve seen the light bulb going off over my head !!
As one who was raised in Metaphysics ( first as a devout Christian Scientist) and later with Unity and Religious Science, the practice of detaching from one’s wish never made any sense to me. Your article on detachment is brilliant and it finally has all come together for me. THANK YOU!!!

  2. Quantrell says:

YES! This is so simply explained, yet profound to the brain! Detach from the pain & Be One with your aim! Love it! THANK YOU 🙂

  3. Donna says:

Thanks for this explanation. I admit I’ve been guilty of mixing Goddard with other LOA teachings especially trying to “let go” or “detach” from the outcome, which I’ve found confusing. Your (and Neville’s) explanation helps make it more clear and seems much simpler to put into practice. Sounds like it comes down to a simple matter of learning to trust what you experience internally in spite of what’s going on externally.

  4. Vivian says:

This has been an excellent series. Thank you so much. It has cleared up several items that have been confusing. Great Job!

  5. Jill says:

Holy Jeez! How did all the “New Age” teachings about manifestation get this detachment point so WRONG!?? Neville, to me, you are very much alive, and for that – and this site that informed me of your existence – I am eternally grateful. Wow.

  6. Mr Twenty Twenty says:

    Hi Jill,

Great to have you here. Buckle up, it’s gonna get REALLY GOOD.

Really have enjoyed the fundamentals. I especially love what you pointed out in this one: “This stuff works, IF you don’t get it mixed up with all the other stuff out there.” So true!

  13. Marina says:

    Awesome! Thanks, TT.

  14. Cathy says:

I’ve read enough now of many authors (none after Joseph Murphy however, except Catherine Ponder), and I used to be confused about detachment, but that confusion came from making the mistake of reading anything online from all these people “jumping on the bandwagon” of LOA. Detachment from the outcome is how what you wish for comes to you — the people, places and/or things. I listened once again to the 12-minute segment of Neville’s first manifestation of going back to Barbados. He did what Abdullah told him to, along with his hilarious thoughts about the whole business, but I’m 100-percent sure he wasn’t thinking well, I wonder if Victor is going to send me a ticket and some $$. If you start thinking about possible channels you’ll drive yourself crazy, you’ll get depressed, and you’re certainly not thinking about your desire. God has ways ye know not of — or words to that effect. Stand still and know that I am God — the means to get your wish fulfilled is God’s business. That’s what I get out of everything that I’ve read (I don’t read any of the current crop of LOA folks, but not one since Henry Harrison Brown to Joseph Murphy talks about detaching from the dream — actually quite the opposite.

    Ooooh, this is SO GOOD : I wanna hug you guys, TT & V, too… 🙂 … xoxo…

The following part hit me hard so beautifully…:

“This teaching begins with self-observation. Secondly it asks, “What do you want?” And then it teaches you to detach from all negative states and attachment to your aim.

This last state- attachment to your aim – is accomplished by frequently assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled.”

  17. lisa says:

I can only chime in with everyone…really, really excellent. Period. The Best. Not only Neville, in his wisdom – but you Twenty, in your distillation.
    Thank you so much.

    Thanks Lisa!!!

Thankyou , you make everything crystal clear and i literall jump to my inbox each night gor me neville daily lesson, soooo good , xx

  21. Marilyn Rippee says:

I really enjoyed the deeper understanding of detachment – always been a little tough for me. This month I have been doing so much self observation to the point I find myself constantly thinking “you are doing this wrong and you are going to mess up your state.” And anxiety seems to build. It seems that I am on a roller coaster of “fighting” to get back to my ideal. My emotions seems to go from “self editing”, trying to “make friends with fear,” then I find myself disappointed that my ideal has not manifested yet and then go back to ‘re-focus.” I am wanting a “sentence” I can say to myself that will get me back to the “zone” without criticizing in my inner dialogue. Sometimes when I am so focused on Neville’s or other important things, I need an outside perspective i. e. a sentence that I can say to myself that will calmly get me to detach from negativity, depression, etc. Just thought I would ask you to give me some dialogue that will gently re-focus my constant mind chatter. I am not sure I have accurately stated my challenge but would appreciate any assistance. Thank you for sharing this incredible work.

  22. Mr Twenty Twenty says:

    Hi Marilyn,

That’s it. Just tell yourself STOP.

    And notice, that it does.

When it starts up again, and it will – STOP.

Do that often enough, and it’s a game changer.

    TT and V

  23. mona Seering says:

Stop. Excellent, simple, effective. Onward journey, thanking you all with my super big heart!

  24. Marilyn Rippee says:

Love it – “STOP” Direct, to the point! Thanks so much!

  25. Stacie Hester Moore says:

Here's the way I would put this to make it more understandable… Detach from creating or having counter-intentions of your wish. For example, when you create an intention – a wish, and then turn around and throughout your waking day have thoughts that are counter to that wish… you are not detached from the wanting. You have to detach from the wanting, and attach yourself to living with the mindset that you already have your wish.

  26. Mr Twenty Twenty says:

    Good one Stacie.

    Neville uses the term ASSUME.

When we fully ASSUME it is – we change. Nothing to detach from anymore.

    Because the Assumption has happened.

    Blessings to you!

    TT and V

  27. Ananya vyas says:

thank you for this super timely lesson..yesterday i was thinking that now as i am living from the state of wish fulfilled..i will detach myself and today i received the true meaning of detachment.
This is actually a gift from god for me.thank you and stay blessed..lots of love.

  28. Adriana says:

    I love this teachings 🙂

  29. SMoore says:

Thanks for this reminder. I admit there were times when I didn’t actually GET what detachment really meant. Why does it have to be said so mystically? Why can’t it just be taught that your reactions to daily stuff is what stops your manifestation dead in its tracks? I get it now, and boy it makes daily life a LOT easier.

  30. Bobbie Tunnicliff says:

Many thanks TT. I have spent a lot of time working on my Spiritual journey and learning to change my consciousness,to manifest,to create and going within. The 3 fundamental principles have helped me to move into another level of understanding and practicing. I have been able to manifest sporadically. Total detachment is where my problem is right now. Thank you for clearing this up for me. Love and Blessings, Bobbie

  31. lisa says:

I KNOW, right?? Me too patricia – years after you read these words and commented, me too had lights going off all over my head. I have sent this article to everyone I love.
Thank you TT and V and E.
E wasn’t even there when you read this Patricia…. LIFE is SO AMAZING.

  32. lisa says:

THIS…really is on of the very best lessons and break downs. I love this and am happy to find it again. Still – LIGHT BULB! Still and Again.
Thank you my friend and teacher of this great wisdom.

  33. John H says:

As always, thanks for sharing this wonderful knowledge. I sorta lost my way for a little while and pushed Neville to the side, because life got too busy. I’ve made it my goal to take the new year and start with a clean slate, to get back to the basics of Neville, and the 3 Fundamental Principles has been a great place to start fresh for me. I’m also doing Manifesting Mastery and look forward each morning to hear your voice, learn a new lesson of Neville’s, and do the amazing exercises. Wishing you, Victoria, and the whole Neville community, nothing but the best for 2016!
    Feeling it Real?

  34. Mr Twenty Twenty says:

    Nice John!

You keep diving mate. You’ve had great successes before, and you will have even more AMAZING ones for the rest of your life.

Keep diving into Manifesting Mastery and keep discovering the TRUTH about you.

    TT and V and E
    Excited for you!

  35. sophie says:

this is absolutely powerful. i just started the manifesting mastery 2 days ago and i have started a journal – as you suggested – and started to look at the stories/myths i created. this korero/discussion popped up on my computer today and i am so glad i looked at it = detaching from the negative states. today as i was driving to the store to buy some products to make a tincture i was conscious of my thoughts – and how they were all over the place and dwelling on a not so good situation that took place last year. i had to stop my train of thought and although my mind seemed stubborn i did do it. thank you!

  36. Mr Twenty Twenty says:

    Nice Sophie!

Let’s call that a MASSIVE WIN!

Because really REALLY noticing – from that kind of space – frees up heaps of both ATTENTION AND ENERGY – which is what you create with.

And you are only in first week….

    It’s gonna get MASSIVELY GREAT!

  37. Cindy in NYC says:

I have great fun using this detachment practice, especially when the time rolls around each month – for me to be paying bills. Instead of ‘dreading’ letting money go?? I savor the entire process, from beginning to end! Take out the checkbook, get my little pad set up, pick my lucky pen. Open the bills in the window envelopes, smiling as I look at them. Run my fingers over the smooth paper, set the mailing envelope off to the side, with a nice fresh postage stamp in the corner. Write in my return address…Look where it says, “monthly payment”, and always, always pay several months worth at a time. Highlight it in yellow neon marker, signing my name with a happy flourish! That feeling of ownership, of mastery, is real, and gives me such a buzz!! “I am the kind of person who has all the money I need, now and always… to pay these bills”, instead of my former Old Woman Self( I have since buried)..who would whine…”oh, jeez, man, how will I ever be able to afford this..?”

  38. George says:

Wow, thanks, TT! It’s articles like this one that make you stand out from all the ‘positive thinking’ silliness and ‘feel good’ fluff and ‘trust the universe’ ignorance that circulates in the LOA field.
Detachment from old, unlovely states, from bundles of hardened reality that enter the room through our reason and senses, and from our old reactions toward that hardened reality — THIS is the true meaning of detachment. And may I add, I personally find that revision is a huge help in that regard. Any time you find yourself reacting from an old, recurring self-concept, any time you find yourself giving life to an unlovable state, REVISE your reaction!
Thank you, TT, for being so great at what you do, for being such an insightful teacher. And also for getting rid of all pretentiousness, for relating to people like a real human being, smoking cigars, wearing scarfs, dropping F-bombs etc. I wouldn’t have you any other way and I’m so grateful you’re around!
