Let’s dive in and explore what Neville has to say:
“The time it takes your assumption to become fact, your desire to be fulfilled, is directly proportionate to the NATURALNESS of your feeling of already being what you want to be… of already having what you desire.” – Neville Goddard
So let’s assume you are Following-The-Formula – and not watering down your imaginal work with confusing and contradictory teachings – that’s easy to do – there are TONS of them out there, taught by people who haven’t fully studied the work – or who aren’t living it fully.
Neville states that FEELING NATURAL in the state of the wish fulfilled is the key. In fact, NOT FEELING NATURAL in that state – is what he calls “the secret of failure”.
“The fact that it does not feel natural to you to be what you imagine yourself to be is the secret of your failure. Regardless of your desire, regardless of how faithfully and intelligently you follow the law, if you do not feel natural about what you want to be, you will not be it. ” – Neville Goddard
So how do you feel natural – about what you choose to have in your life?
Here is the SHORT version: (There is more to this method – but it’s lengthy to read about.)
STEP 1 OF 3: Take something in your life that you feel good about – that is natural for you already. Could be that you are now an excellent chess player, could be that you now have the job, partner or car that you want. The key is to identify something in your life NOW that feels good and is a natural part of your life.
Let’s compare that with something good that you choose to have in your life that you don’t yet feel “natural” about. (Pick one thing or change.)
- Notice where you picture each of them. Are you picturing them in the same location? Are they the same size?
- Notice where each of them “show up” or begin in your body. Are they in the same place?
- Notice if you have an imaginary conversation about each of them with someone – how is the tone of the conversation different? Are the conversations in “the same place” AROUND YOU?
Making distinctions about how you imagine something that is GOOD AND NATURAL already in your life – and noticing how they are different from what you want in your life – gives you SOLID GOLD insight – into HOW you need to imagine DIFFERENTLY – and where to make changes.
