“I feel like I’ve been pleading with God all my life for things to be different, can you help me?” – Tina
I grew up believing that prayer was literally pleading with God for what you want, and if God’s will matched up with mine, and IF I was good, then I might get what I wanted. As you can imagine, prayer wasn’t a very fulfilling experience back then, and in fact, it drove me right out of the church I grew up in.
The good news is, that we can all leave behind old belief systems (like we have been separated from God, and that if we have EVER been bad – we might get denied good in our life) and we can leave behind old pleading patterns of prayer – so that we can discover the truth about us, and what we are truly capable of.
In today’s lesson, we explore “What is prayer – according to Neville?” And you will also learn, how you can make your prayer much more effective using a tiny little drill that Neville learned from his teacher, Abdullah. Let’s dive in
“The word PRAYER means motion towards, accession to, act of in the vicinity of.” – Neville Goddard
Let’s make sure that we get every bit of power from this first sentence.
Prayer is motion towards. Does the way you pray today ACTUALLY create in you – the feeling that there has been motion towards your aim – your ideal – your destination. To us, it’s like going on a holiday trip to Grandma’s house. Once you get in the car – you just KNOW you are going to get to get there. The feeling isn’t “hopeful”, the feeling is EXCITEMENT.
Prayer is accession to. Accession refers to the general idea of joining or adding to. In prayer, do you FEEL as if you have joined with or been added to – your ideal?
Prayer is the act of being in the vicinity of. We are surrounded by – in the vicinity of our story book style mudbrick home and nature garden. Does your prayer create the feeling of – the experience of – your ideal state being the home you live in – the land you love?
This is why Neville always says to pray – knowing – feeling – as if your wish has been fulfilled. Feel it as real now, feel that you are that ideal man / woman. Take that knowing into the physical world, and walk – react to the world as that ideal.
But what if…
But what if you have had problems “moving in your mind” to the place of your wish fulfilled – so that you no longer desire it, but feel it real. What if that has been difficult for you? Then you might want to use the very same exercise that Neville’s teacher Abdullah gave to him.
“My old friend, Abdullah, gave me this exercise. Every day I would sit in my living room where I could not see the telephone in the hall. With my eyes closed, I would assume I was in the chair by the phone. Then I would feel myself back in the living room. This I did over and over again, as I discovered the feeling of changing motion. This exercise was very helpful to me. If you try it, you will discover you become very loose with this exercise.” – Neville Goddard
TODAY’S TAKE AWAY: Notice the exercise was a simple one – and that it was done with something that Neville had no feelings of urgency about, no attachment to, no real gain to make. The exercise was just a simple practice to discover how to move within your mind, how to loosen up the grip that the sensory world has on your wonderful human imagination.
We love exploring these simple foundations with you, because they create powerful shifts in your experience, and that will help you get even more of the results you want. We were blessed to find these quote while doing more research on the Neville Goddard Prosperity Power Pack. – coming Friday. Look for a special announcement in your inbox.
