State Akin To Sleep #2 – Free Gift – Free Neville Goddard

Posted on June 13, 2013May 26, 2023 by Mr Twenty Twenty

Hey mate,

Today’s Neville Goddard lesson is a short video sharing with you one of our favorite training methods to help you quickly get into the State Akin To Sleep, without falling asleep before you can do your session.

“The ancient teachers discovered that sleep, or a state akin to sleep, aided man in making his assumption. Therefore, they dramatized the first creative act of man as one in which man was in a profound sleep. This not only sets the pattern for all future creative acts, but shows us that man has but one substance that is truly his to use in creating his world and that is himself.” – Neville Goddard

Remember, for a while – just practice going into the state akin to sleep – and coming out of it. Do that 3 times a day for a week or two, and you will be a master of entering into it.

Key Points:

  • You are moving from Beta (where you figure it all out) to the area where “alpha and theta” meet. This is the area of “creation and healing”.
  • (Step 1)  Sit in a comfortable chair, instead of lying down.(Lying down is the position of sleep.)
  • (Step 2)  Look UP gently, about 20 degrees up – to access the visual part of your brain. (This also keeps you out of fuzzy focus mode – where you stare straight ahead instead.
  • (Step 3a)  As you count slowly from 50 down, allow yourself to become more and more aware of your relaxation and your breathing. Allow your mind to gently drift while counting – experience some place beautiful.  (3A helps you relax.)
  • (Step 3b)  Use “the arm” to train you to stay focused – yet relaxed.  (3B helps you stay focused.)
  • And when you get to zero, toss in a few kinds words to congratulate you.
  • And as you decide to count to 5 and wake up – tell yourself that you are going to be happier and healthier than ever before.

Have fun and remember to feel your ideal as real!  Remember, if you haven’t downloaded it yet, get the Feel It Real Power Pack so you do everything right and get the results you want in life.

Have an amazing day!

Thanks for another informative and helpful post!

I run into trouble when it comes to “feeling it real” in the state akin to sleep. When the feeling of the wish fulfilled is one of excitement, how do you stay in alpha or theta? My heartbeat and breathing quickens, and I find that afterward I can’t fall asleep (or bury the seed, if you will). I can remain calm while feeling it real in all other senses, but once the emotional component becomes convincing it overstimulates me. Should I try to focus less on the emotional reality while in session (and simply assume it as my emotional state post-session) and concentrate more on the physical senses/congratulatory dialogues/end scenes while in beta and theta?

You are so right about sticking to what works. It wasn’t until I discovered Neville’s teachings and applied his methods that I got the hang of conscious creation. I followed his directions as closely as possible and have achieved success every single time thus far. In each and every case the results have mirrored my vision precisely. It truly is astounding; the stuff of miracles, one might say.

    Hi Liv,

Great question. Let’s try moving the focal point of your Feel It Real Session.

If you are ending in a scene where “excited” is the core emotion, that’s gonna keep you from sleeping.

Imagine what it’s like winning that a karate championship, that’s EXCITING. So is the congratulatory scene that is immediately after the win.

But if I shift the scene, to where one of my friends comes up to me two weeks later, and we share a less intense but real happy moment where he congratulates me, it still implies the win, and it allows me to realize the state – and fall asleep.

    Make sense?

    Have fun with it Dave!

That’s one of the major keys, do everything thing “right” (Neville Goddard Power Pack) but just as importantly, have MAJOR FUN!

The wonderful states of “the state akin to sleep” and “the wish fulfilled” are blessings to themselves.

I really like your technique to put the hand in the air while practicing feeling it real in alpha/theta states. That’s a great solution to my problem of dropping off to sleep when there’s work to do (feeling it real!). I am definitely going to try this!

while this is certainly good advice for some people I think it might be helpful to add that laying on your back is also a good position for entering the state akin to sleep. In fact laying flat on your back is the position that Neville Goddard himself advocates in his book “feeling is the secret” and is the position that I personally find to be the most productive.

This is great. I do tend to fall asleep instead of remaining in the state of “akin to sleep”. Holding up an arm is such a beautifully simple and natural solution. Likewise, the method of not seeing yourself as though in a movie, is something I have had to correct less and less frequently in my imaginings.

Hello. Thank you for this. I have some technical questions.

Since this is done with the eyes closed, am I “looking up” 20 degrees with my eyeballs under the closed lids? Or am I tilting the chin up 20 degrees? You looked to be tilting the chin up, but in the explanation preceding that, you actually looked up with your eyeballs. I just tried gazing upward with with the eyes, with the lids closed, and I don’t even know if it’s possible.

Also, you were counting aloud (from 50) for demonstrative purposes, but when I do this am I counting aloud or silently? Same question for the repeated mantra upon reaching zero.

    Thanks again!

    Ms T,

Great questions. Let’s dive into them.

The important part is that your eyes move up, the chin can too, but something very specific happens when the eyes are looking up about 20 degrees with lids closed. Have fun exploring that.

And the counting, that is done silently.

    Have an amazing day!

very nice. I am often in a state akin to awakening…

So I have been trying to do this “state akin to sleep” and I find that I have been having trouble actually visualizing and not getting distracted by the sounds going on around me…obviously it makes this difficult to take yourself out of the “now” and into your “desire”…do you have any suggestions on how I can “improve.” I’m good at imaging conversations but its the pictures that I have difficulty producing. Thanks for your help! 😀

  17. Mr Twenty Twenty says:
    December 7, 2013 at 12:57 pm

The main thing is the feeling Meg.

If your conversations FEEL REAL, then don’t worry about the visual.

Let us know if that makes sense.

Definitely, and they do feel real. I just am easily distracted when attempting to go into this “state akin to sleep” which makes me feel like I’m not really in this state. I feel way too aware of my conscious body. Thank you for your quick response!

    Cool Meg,

Keep playing. Like any discipline – it gets much easier in time.

Remember, Neville was a dancer by training and trade – he was VERY GOOD at getting his body to be “just right” with a balance of focus and relaxation. That’s something we get to develop.

    Blessings,

One more thing–regarding attracting another person…I have been having trouble “visualizing” me and that person…because it makes me get kind of nervous and anxious. Instead I have been visualizing a specific friend, who has never met the one I want to attract, tell me how much she likes “specific person” and how good we are together. Is that okay…?

This’s the one part we need to learn-pratice-master if we are to utilize Neville’s methods, right?! 🙂 Thanks so much for this article… And I have some quick questions: 1) Why are you recommending sitting in a chair instead of the lying down position as advised by Neville himself? Is it only for the start to get practice and until master it (in this position and then graduate to the lying down position when you have mastered it?) 2) DO you close your eyes when you are looking upward and counting 3) The looking upward is like the method done in One Command Theta Program (by Asara Lovejoy -heard about it?). There also they have you look upward (theirs seem more upward) in order to get you into the Theta brain state and once you are there, you say some phrases that help you allow what you want -pretty cool for me to see the similarity 3) What is “arm” referred to 3b? Thanks very much!!

This is a very cool approach… I think, when it comes to our heart’s most passionate/deepest desires, if we are imagining the scene where its manifestation is most recent, the big heartbeat is guaranteed… So, something less thrilling is a great idea… like sometime has passed and you are used to your new experience… and it feels even more real like that right? :). Just one question though… According to Neville, it doesn’t matter how recent or further in the future your depiction of a scenario as long as it is implying that you have what you want and getting you into that Feel It Real state…? Also, actually, if the scenario is causing such a big heartbeat then it means you are not feeling it all that like real… it is almost unreal… sort of too good to be true… I have the same issue on some of my desires…

    Hi Angel,

Neville taught to do sessions sitting down, so you wouldn’t fall asleep.

    They eyes close and relax.

Not sure on the other bits.

    Blessings!

    Hi TT,

Thanks so much for your replies!

I have heard and read Neville suggesting the state-akin-to-sleep in lying down position… In fact, in his book “The Feeling Is The Secret” he even suggests that the head be in the same level as the body when lying down when done during times other than going-to-bed/sleep time… And of course, at night when it is actual bed-time/sleep-time, he says fall asleep in that state… at that time we are definitely lying down…

Sorry to ask again but more clarification on the body position during the state-akin-to-sleep sessions would be wonderful! -ps: Especially since you are also stating that if we are missing out on this one, we are missing big time :).

    Thanks a million+++

I am in agreement with such positive vibes around this *simple* practice exercise. Three times a day for one week sounds like a good starting point to dive right in. After that you will feel what would be required but at least once a day, where ever you are (in a chair) and feel that spontaneous urge.

I liked counting down from 50 and ~not~ 60! It is akin to an ‘off-the-path’ practice of the norm.

The arm… first thing that popped into my thoughts actually was relating it to the movie Inception where they used objects to flip around or dunk in water to wake them up from a dream-state.

    Me likes!

Maybe play a mind video that is not exciting in context but mundane and perhaps boring but nevertheless must mean that you wish is fulfilled, like sitting down with your accountant to discuss your accounts and investments in boring accountancy speak, accountants never get excited over money!

Re laying down or sitting up to reach a state akin to sleep, it strikes me that the crucial thing is to be in the state where the concious can impact/communicate with the subconscious. Falling asleep does you no good, you are trying to do a piece of communication work and this would be wasted effort.

    Hi James,

I’m not sure if you are agreeing with what we are sharing and what we know works, or not.

We just keep exploring by doing what Neville teaches, and noticing what works and what people are doing to complicate it mate.

    Blessings James!
