Neville Goddard and The Secret Power of States – Part 2

Posted on February 14, 2013March 7, 2016 by Mr Twenty Twenty

Hey mate,

Today we will explore how to abandon your stuck states – by abandoning your need to have them.  Often readers attempt to actually stay stuck, to fulfill a “need to suffer and struggle”.   This seems to come from worshiping what many call the struggle of the saints – like Jesus carrying the cross.    That was a short time frame event – lasting but a few hours.  The resurrection – the being reborn into the state of the wish fulfilled – the awakening to what you really are – is eternal by comparison.  Abandon the struggle and the stress, and embrace being reborn from the tomb.  We do that, using the true meaning of repent.

“The word ‘repent’ means ‘a radical change of attitude’. Your attitude need not be towards another, but an attitude regarding self. If you feel you have nothing to live for you must repent by changing your attitude radically from that state. Don’t condemn yourself for the state into which you have fallen. If you don’t like it move into another. Don’t feel sorry for yourself, for if you do you will make the state a habit and remain there for the rest of your days on earth. Instead, you can believe this doctrine and move out of any state.” – Neville Goddard

To repent is to make a radical change of mind.  To turn your back entirely on the limits and mistakes of yesterday.  To abandon the old state so completely – that you can not even remember what it was like.

  • Growing up.  I was a little boy who was sick often, picked on much, had no voice, and few real friends.    I abandoned those states, by embracing health, by becoming confident, by finding my true thoughts on life and expressing them, and by opening up to others.  Today, I can’t even imagine what that little boy’s life was like, it seems like a tiny little dream – from another lifetime.

DSCF3052THE MISTAKE MOST PEOPLE MAKE:   You get stuck in The Loop if you continue to condemn yourself for past mistakes. Another way to stay stuck in “the loop” is to feel sorry for yourself or about what you did and feel the need to “make up for it” in a way that might not be possible now.   Forgive yourself, the crucifixion needs to only happen once. The resurrection is eternal.

“You don’t have to remain in a state if you have made a mistake. You can change states morning, noon, and night, but the state to which you most constantly return constitutes your dwelling place. It is from there you are going to live and perpetuate until you move in thought. As Blake said: “The oak is cut down by the ax and the lamb is slain by the knife, but their eternal form remains forever and reproduces its external form by the seed of contemplative thought.” – Neville Goddard

Just because you were programmed or encouraged to adopt a limited state when you were a child, doesn’t mean you have to keep it now.   Just because you chose a state yesterday that doesn’t suit you today, doesn’t mean that you have to continue to embody it.

  • Decide today, “what is my dwelling place”.  Look back at it from the future – and feel it real now.  Contemplate your ideal life, your ideal way of being.  Ask yourself these contemplative questions:

What would it be like if…. (my ideal was real)?
Wouldn’t it be nice if I….. (I experienced or accomplished my ideal now)?

“So the greatest talent, the greatest challenge to overcome, is the art of forgiveness. By forgiveness I do not mean a verbal agreement, leaving the memory of what was forgiven. To completely forgive I must completely forget the event. No matter what was said, if you forgive me you can’t even remember what I did or said. Only willing to see what you want to see, if you persuade yourself that you are now what you want to be, you have forgotten what you were before. That’s forgiveness.” – Neville Goddard

TODAY’S TAKE AWAY: Repent.  Forget your faults.  Turn your back on the mistaken beliefs that you are weak, wounded, separate from your ideal.  Forget the false by filling your mind with contemplations and feelings of your ideal as real.

Tomorrow we will explore real life experiences of how fast Neville’s methods can work for you.

Many blessings,

Mr Twenty Twenty and Victoria

You know I love this; when I was about 30 or so, I was studying self hypnosis (so I could learn Italian faster!) this was two decades before all the craze now…. for all things brain.
So – in an early session came up a long hidden, covered memory of abuse.
    OK. there is was.
But for the next several years as I wanted to sort out the story, the anger, the hurt, the damage etc – I was told over and over to get “counseling”… “talk about it”…. “confront and make him pay”….

Instead, I could not imagine pulling up over and over the feelings and fears etc. I did not want to live every Thursday night with a pull-me-out chair in the basement of a well intended pastor… and share the energy of the traumas and dramas.
My therapy was to move away to Europe alone for a few years, where I made a lot of money, and felt free to be ANGRY. to be UNLIKE everyone EXPECTED me to be…
and I had my own catharsis.
I came back to my world, to my family, to friends here,
    strong
    clear
    powerful
    sure
    and loving.
And although there are mini revelations I still have (now, enjoy) from my childhood – like you Twenty, I cannot imagine the life I led. That young girl had. It is like a tiny tiny dream, indeed.
And at first, the people not wanting the healing without protocols they could understand….
shook their heads and waited for me to crash.
Now, all these happy successful non drugged, non therapeuticalized years later… I never crashed.
I think inside us we have this light, always. YOU are the guardian of a way to get there for us. and once here, we can so easily see we have know, had it, been it – all along.

Yes, like you even my life 20 years ago….seems…so…small and distant. And today, heck RIGHT NOW as I type…is so rich, so full, so huge.
    Love that.

    Solid Gold!

“To be unlike anyone expected me to be…”

The classic phrase for men is, “Live as if your father is dead.”

Many ways to look at that – and it all comes down to not living under anyone else’s image of you – or their shadow.

    Blessings!
